There were many days waiting for the shingles to go away

While I was taking all the meds the doctor perscribed, I grabbed my camera and what else took a bunch of pictures.

On Thursday July 23th Amara Aguilar came to the house and interviewed me (and later Carter Thomas) for a video on kitesurfing. Amara works for the Press Telegram and was shooting videos of local people and their interests.

I grabbed a rare shot of Gabor at Belmont. On Friday Seal was closed for an event and he drove over and kited Belmont. As did a number of Seal regulars.

Dan was on the water also. I caught him in mid-air doing a board off. Good style points Dan.

A little later Rijk and Dan wanted to kite in a small pond that was created by the high tide. It was pretty shallow and I think Rijk's fin touched bottom.

Dan's fins might have been smaller or something because he was able to get up for a moment. But unfortunately no tricks.

On Saturday we went to the Hurley US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach. I was lucky to grab a shot of Kelly Slater pulling off a 10 on a huge wave. That was an amazing contest.

On Sunday we headed for the beach. Alice dropped by the camp to say "Hi" with her new little puppy and a new hair do. She looked stunning.

Mean while, over at the lifeguard tower, there was a photo shoot going on. Mitch was a little distracted by all the posing in his dory.

Today Klaus got his kite back. I think they replaced the leading edge bladder. It didn't matter he was happy to be going out.

He immediately started pulling the "Elevator Button" and was getting some amazing air.

A few minutes later his kite was in the water. Dave was watching very carefully making sure Klaus was OK. He tried relaunching it but it didn't work.

The lifeguards swam out to assist him. The fellow holding his kite eventually pulled the air valve and his kite deflated. It also took in some water.

Klaus was very gratefull for all of the help. At one point there were 7 lifeguards involved. Three in the water with him, two on the sand watching, and two in the truck watching them watch.

Back at the camp, Arron stopped for a moment to pose with Rosemary and her mom, who had just had hip surgery. She enjoyed getting out to the beach.

Right in front of them was a group of kiters and their dates. While the kiters were away the mice played paddle ball. Nice ink on the girl on the left. Remember to double click on the picture to make it bigger.

I don't know what the occasion was but Ruth was all dressed up and I snapped a picture of her in the front yard. She is back swimming in the bay and it looks like it's paying off. She looks amazing!
