Beach clean-up and kiting

April 17, 2010

Thanks to Board member Dimitrii Korionoff members of the SCKA joined Jet Blue for the monthly Belmont Beach Clean-Up

This was the sight as I crossed the sand at 10 o'clock for a little bit of fun.

Right to left: Luca, Rijk and I started out with our gloves and bags looking for trash.

We worked our way to our home base, the trash can and then worked our way back to the start.

OH man, the city really missed their chance to clean up the beach trash from the L.A.River. Sure there was plenty of Styrofoam, plastic and other junk on the sand, but this was a little overwhelming.

Back at the start with our collection we were joined by Dan and Kristin.

Dan shows his new puppy to one of the helpers. Luki is still to young to play but I hear he will be free soon.

Then it was time to go kiting. "Dr. Al" was one of the early arrivals.

Al shows his son Jason how easy Big Mama is to control. I think Jason is getting the kite bug too.

It looks like Al is another Big Mama lover. He said later "Man that thing has lots of grunt."

Here you've got Kyle Van up front and Al right behind him. Kyle's on a Boss, 12m.

A few minutes later Gabor dropped by riding his directional being pulled by a new North 16m.

The day had to end a little early because my brother Carl was coming by after the Long Beach Grand Prix. He drove from Las Vegas to watch the Corvettes race.

Ruth was really the Queen of the party since she went to the little cheese shop on Claremont and picked up lots of cheese, bread and other snacks.

Here Ruth explains the different cheeses. Wow what a selection. Mmmmmmm.

It takes two pictures, but here we are toasting Ruth for making the evening so perfect.

My wacky brother is on the right. OK it's been a long "Racing" day, then his wife Bonnie and two friends from Orange County.

Here's the end of party shot. Thanks Dan for taking the pictures. I really appreciated you taking the camera away for the evening.
