Before the rain on Tuesday, there was Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Friday October 9th....
On Friday afternoon Klaus, Rijk and I headed for the beach to check out the wind. Not much wind but we ran into Charles (far left) and Tony who were out skate boarding and dropped by to say "Hello."
This was our view from the launch ramp. Not much to look at. No kiters...not much of anything.
We heard this unbelievable sound out behind Chaffee Island. It was this huge hovercraft. In case you wanted to know more about them, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hovercraft
Recently Luca (bottom left) returned from Italy. Today he came to the beach to join us waiting.
Then Klaus wanted to try Tony's "S.U.P. training device." It's basically a skate board, a stick with a handle and rubber tip. When he's not SUPing he's training. Charles has a SUP board too.
I lost this picture somewhere along the way. It's Danny McCullough (Kitesurfari) riding Klaus's Harley. She went down to Ocean Blvd. and headed West. Klaus was preying that his bike was going to come back. She had no problem handling it.
Ever wonder what Klaus and Rijk do? Here's an example. For a while Rijk was calling this "The Beast." It's part of a dairy conveyor system that is on its way to Texas. They built it from scratch in their shop.
Here they were outside of the shop installing a return rail at Rock View dairy. Klaus loves milk too.
Friday's sunset.
Saturday October 10th....
Saturday was looking great!!!
Here's what the wind graph looked today.
A little after 3 o'clock Michael D. dropped by the house to let us know that the wind was coming up. Rijk and I headed to the beach. Let's go!!
Michael rigged very fast and wanted wind to come up. By the time I got there with the camera he was ready to go.
The wind was coming up but I couldn't help myself. I had to click off a few shots.
The wind was coming up really good and great wind direction too. I'm outta here.
I took big read behind Chaffee Island looking for Gabor Vagi today. It was very easy to get to the breakwater's edge and to the open ocean. I called out "Gabor where are you????"
Here's a shot of Gabor kiting on Lake Volvi in Greece. It looks very cool there.
At about 6, when the wind died, we got a good laugh out of seeing the water in Michael's wet suit. Maybe he was hording it. OR????
There's always time to clown around on the launch ramp after a fun day on the water. From left to right; Matt, Alexandra, Michael D., Rijk and me. I think Alexandra was flying her Best again today.
I think I caught the last kiter coming in after the wind died. The time stamp was 6:07. What a day.
Sunday October 11th....
Naturally we wanted a repeat of yesterday....SORRY, nature doesn't always work that way during the fall.
One guy got out, but......
Al Navas and I decided to crack jokes rather than go out. But we were ready. Thank you Faycal for taking pictures today.
There wasn't much at Seal Beach today either. We didn't miss much.
Yup, anoher kiter walking at sunset.
